No one knows what Firefly's real name is or what he looks like. He is known by his work. His fees are paid into a numbered Swiss bank account and are always payable in advance. He makes no guarantees and gives no refunds. He
specializes in bomb-planting, arson, and booby-traps. His unique construction of these devices is so complex that they are impossible to defuse. He always places his charges in the one place that affords maximum damage. Firefly's infiltration skills are legendary; no one has ever reported seeing him enter or leave any target area. No building or mission is too tough for Firefly.
Even Cobra Commander doesn't know much about Firefly, although it is rumored that Cobra Commander took care of some personal family matters for Firefly who has been on the payroll ever since. Firefly is Cobra Commander's number one contract man and has been blowing things up for Cobra since Cobra Commander first donned his hood and opened up for business. Since that time, Cobra has expanded to include entire battalions of bomb-planters, arsonists, and booby-trappers, but Cobra Commander still keeps contacting Firefly, the "Rembrandt of plastic explosives," when a job needs precision bombing. His skills in cross-wiring, anti-tamper, and secondary timers have allowed him to achieve a "100%" success rate over the years.
This record was eventually broken by the G. I. Joe team. To avoid any future confrontation, Firefly chose to move his operations to the Cobra Polar Base in 1998. He focused on sabotaging top secret, arctic research facilities, and used Night-Creepers to steal their classified documents.
Firefly would later be contracted for various jobs in the United States in 2002 through 2004. He would be given a year-long contract as a member of the Strike Team - Urban Division where he would be again closely associated with
Night Creepers. His next contract in 2005 would tie him to the Crimson Guard Force.
