Metal-Head is the leader of the Iron Grenadiers air assault squadron and is also a walking anti-tank weapon. He has allowed Destro's top scientists to surgically implant an electro-magnetic shunt directly into his brain. This mnemonic device allows him to connect into the M.A.R.S.
mainframe computer and download weapon and vehicle specifications directly
into his memory. He simply plugs into the system and allows his
bio-processors to acquire the knowledge. Metal-Head also has an
brain-integrated targeting sight located in the optic nerve of his left eye.
He can launch high-explosive tubes and guide them to their objectives on a
laser beam, without the use of his hands or his feet. All he has to do
is make visual contact with a target, let the computer "read" the range, plot
the trajectory, wait for the green light to flash, and then yell "bang" to
utilize his voice-activated weapon systems. His weapons' command system
is made up of circuits and targeting computer modules built into various
components of his blast suit.
These upgrades have given Metal-Head faster reflexes, which make him particularly adept with advanced technology aircraft - such as the Stealth A.G.P. (Anti-Gravity Pod). He now has the ability to execute ultra fast maneuvers that would physically debilitate other pilots. The few seconds it takes for his opponent to compensate is all he needs to calculate their range and launch his missiles to blast them out of the sky.
Metal-Head first joined the Iron Grenadiers in 1990. In 1994, shortly before Cobra temporarily disbanded, Metal-Head was contracted out for Cobra's use
and outfitted with a new blast suit. Metal-Head's blast suit consists of
a armor-plated, laser-proof chest cover and specialized Cobra combat boots
also worn by Python Rock
Vipers. While Cobra disbanded, the Iron Grenadiers remained active
internationally. In 2003, Cobra contracted Metal-Head to command Undertows for a deployment India to support existing contracted T.A.R.G.A.T. platoons.
Again, Metal-Head wore his original 1990 blast suit, possibly due to cutbacks
in Cobra funding. In 2005, Metal-Head, in a re-colored version of his
1994 uniform, was reassigned to the United States and participated in an operation in the former Soviet Union.
From intelligence gatherings: "Destro (an international arms dealer) is always expanding his M.A.R.S. (Military Armaments Research Systems) Corporation to create new weapons factories all around the world. He has set his sights on several secret industrial complexes in the former Soviet Union and is using his inside man (General Mayhem, a former Spetsnaz officer and brilliant strategist), to execute his plan. With his new Iron Grenadiers and elite brigade of Iron Anvil Paratroopers led by Metal Head, Destro’s forces have invaded a former Soviet Bloc toy factory and plan to ship weapons systems under the toy brand of Destr-uct-o Blocs. Under this cover, they believe that they will be able to distribute their products globally, unnoticed by the western world."
