The Alley Viper troops are the inner city invasion forces for Cobra. Recruited from other Cobra combat divisions, Alley Viper troops use various forms of evil to achieve their objectives. They go through extremely tough training in all kinds of urban environments - streets, buildings, and alleys. Only the toughest can successfully jump down thirty feet to a concrete floor while carrying a full combat load.
Like all Alley Viper (non-Alley Viper II) deployments since 1993, the Strike Team - Urban Division Alley Viper is outfitted with a Cobra communications watch, Cobra laser-proof shield, high-bore bullet-proof body armor suit and vest, and special blast-proof trooper helmet with adjustable visor. They do not have the special issue Cobra street boots of the 1989 through 1994 deployments.
Cobra deployed Alley Vipers with the Strike Team - Urban Division to the United States beginning in 2004 along with the Night Creeper and Nullifier. This team is led by the Cobra operatives Firefly, Scrap Iron, and Storm Shadow. Based on uniform colorings, Scrap Iron is most closely associated with the Alley Viper and Nullifier troops.
