Voltar
was an extremely successful mercenary commander. In fact, he was too
successful for his continued presence to be tolerated by the provisional
governments, revolutionary councils, and military dictatorships that employed
him. He could pluck victory from seeming imminent defeat in complete
defiance of the odds, always just one step ahead of disaster, never looking
back. To Voltar, winners never look back. This outlook (and attempted assassination) terminated his career with his employers and put him on the path as a general for Destro's Iron Grenadiers.
After his initial success as the first Iron Grenadier general in the United States, Destro had Voltar command on European battlefronts until from 1990 to 1992. In 1993, Voltar's
uniform was contracted by Cobra operative Mestre
Rapina to command Cobra units in Brazil.
