The Iron Grenadiers use vanguard technology in their vehicles and weapons, to match forces with the extremely advanced equipment of Battle Force 2000. The Iron Grenadiers motto: "High technology in the service of terror!"
In 1987, Cobra introduced some of its most bizarre weapons systems designed by M.A.R.S.*. These systems included the Buzz Boar and P.O.G.O. Considering its cheap manufacturing and high fuel cost, the P.O.G.O. should have been a complete failure for Cobra's combat forces. Instead, the P.O.G.O. was redeployed twice more in the next seven years.
In 1991, the Iron Grenadiers began bellicose operations in Brazil and contracted Cobra P.O.G.O.s to confront similar vehicles of Battle Force 2000. The P.O.G.O. was chosen because of its small-scale so that, in principle, it would deceive and be tragically underestimated by the enemy. With its legs of elastic propulsion for jumps, endowed with high impact shock absorbers and shunting lines for necessary fast landings, its ultranuclear missiles, and its gigantic double machine gun, this small craft becomes invincible - a giant who is capable of destructive jumps to the heights of the commandos of Battle Force 2000.
When the first deployments of P.O.G.O.s, redesignated for their Portuguese-speaking destination as S.A.P.O.s (translates as "Toad") or Advanced Offensive Propulsion Systems, arrived in Brazil, the Iron Grenadier commander Ciclon claimed one as his personal vehicle and was the commander of all S.A.P.O. combat activities.
The P.O.G.O./S.A.P.O. was later renamed the Invader in 1993 and deployed with Cobra space operations.
