Skydiver is not an official member of the G.I. Joe special operations team. He was intended to be recruited, specifically for his impeccable record, as the commander of a newly inducted paratrooper regiment just prior to G.I. Joe’s decommission. While Skydiver has been very useful as he has rescued team members from tight spots, his record reads like a John Wayne movie character. He is known for his bravery and single-minded pursuit of enemy Cobra forces. His favorite quote is "I shall finish them." Skydiver’s courage has often landed him in Cobra territory alone with only a machine gun, once even at a Cobra headquarters. Despite the fact Skydiver has always come out with a successful mission record, other commanders quietly wonder if he is simply reckless and lucky.
Skydiver was assigned to India in 1995, shortly after G.I. Joe’s decommission with his re-organized paratrooper regiment, along with former G.I. Joe team members
Budo, Muskrat, and
Spearhead. Since then, he has remained stationed in India, gaining combat experience with several Cobra troop types, specifically
Hydro-Vipers,
Night-Vipers, and
Toxo-Vipers. In addition, Skydiver has gathered combat intelligence on the Cobra operatives
Major Bludd and
Wild Weasel, Iron Grenadier operative
Metal Head, and the
Dreadnok members
Road Pig, Zarana, and
Zartan.
Skydiver has not been officially assigned to the G.I. Joe team since its reinstatement in 1997.
