DESCRIPTION:

The A.P.C. was G.I. Joe's first troop transport.  With the A.P.C.'s ability to seat sixteen passengers, every soldier enlisted in G.I. Joe that was not assigned a vehicular unit in 1983 rode to their destination in the A.P.C.  The A.P.C. was designed to cross various terrain - from lakes to slow moving rivers to open ground.  While not comfortable, the A.P.C. was rigorously well-equipped for moving across bodies of water, unlike vehicles in G.I. Joe's private armory at the time.

While the Warthog A.I.F.V. later replaced the A.P.C. as an amphibious troop carrier, and the Monster Blaster became the most heavily armored battlefield troop transport, the A.P.C. saw many years of service with G.I. Joe.  After its introduction in 1983, it was unchanged until 1989, when the A.P.C. was remodeled into the Night Scrambler to supplement the Night Force unit's ability to move quickly into enemy territory.  The A.P.C. continued to be a mainstay of the G.I. Joe team's transport when, in 1993, it was finally upgraded to the C.U.D.A. (Costal Unit Defense A.P.C.) version.  The A.P.C. saw service globally - from the U.S.A. to Europe, and from Argentina to Brazil, indicating its usefulness in a variety of combat and non-combat scenarios.

In 1994, however, the A.P.C. was decommission as the G.I. Joe team concept was abandoned.  Since the reinstatement of G.I. Joe, the A.P.C. has not yet been recommissioned for G.I. Joe's use.
