DESCRIPTION:

Developed to maximize Cobra's agenda in arctic climes, the W.O.L.F. is equipped for stealthy infiltration, ambush, and reconnaissance. It's multifaceted functions are made possible by it's redundant design features: 3 forms of propulsion, 3 different personnel positions, and 3 different primary weapons.
The W.O.L.F. is piloted by one driver in the lower canopy position and weapon control is primarily operated by the upper canopy gunner. The gunner controls all 3 weapons systems when rough driving is needed, but both the piloting and weapons systems can be switched to either canopy as desired. Additional troops may provide lateral/rear cover fire from flank positions above the side runner skis.
The offensive strength of the W.O.L.F. lies in diversity of threats. The highly maneuverable dual pulse cannons can provide accurate surface-to-surface fire as well as agile surface-to-air defense. Combined with the W.O.L.F.'s speed, these cannons guarantee that it will never be pinned down by close air support and will not be out maneuvered on the ground. The 4 WHAM-4 surface-to-air missiles allow the W.O.L.F. to provide a potent surprise to close-range air support, and the 2 SNARL ski torpedoes are a silent threat that has left many an encampment and supply convoy wondering what hit them.
The ultimate threat of the W.O.L.F.'s arsenal is more subtle than explosive: silence and speed. The multiple propulsion systems of the W.O.L.F. are what maximize the effectiveness of its weaponry. The two rear tread tracks provide the grip and strength needed for high maneuverability and acceleration on any slick winter surface. Once the W.O.L.F. has reached a cruising speed or an open expanse, the jet powered propulsion units kick in and provide a top speed of 225 kph. Fast enough to allow for quick traversal over vast stretches of tundra and even small bodies of water. In the end, however, it is the un-powered silent running of the W.O.L.F. that is its greatest threat: approaching swiftly and silently through the snow, launching silent weapons at ground targets, and depositing troops behind enemy lines without detection... this silent killer need not be seen nor heard to be felt.

In 1991, Adder mobile missile launchers, H.I.S.S. tanks, and W.O.L.F. tanks were notably deployed in the Terror on the Tundra mission in a plan to contaminate the world's ozone layer.  With the missile attack in jeopardy of being scrubbed, H.I.S.S. tanks were called in to smash a G.I. Joe counterattack at an Arctic missile launch site.
