While I'm not sure the Ninja Showdown set's focus was necessarily on accessories, I think they still did a pretty nice job cramming a metric ton of neat gear into this one package.

The first thing you'll notice is that a lot of the original Commando weapons are included in this set...however, the weapons have changed allegiances in some cases. The bo staff is now in use by Snake Eyes, as is the grappling hook. Storm Shadow retains control over his more familiar assortment with the exception of his display rack and footclaws. Besides the items that Snake Eyes now uses, everything else is included.

The familiar (and very cool) Tonfa swords are both included here and retain their full functionality. Snake Eyes has immediately become known for using these great new blades, and I'm glad he's got two more in this pack.

As I already said, Snake Eyes is now the Bo Staff user, and the new person holding it is reflected in the change of wrap color.

The grappling hook and mini sword round out Snake Eyes' great accessory compliment and give him a nice range of gear for infiltration or all out attack. It would have been cool if he had come with an Uzi as well, but after all, this is the "Ninja Showdown" set...

Storm Shadow is also missing his scabbard, but the long sword still manages to slide into the sheath without too many problems. The two sais still fit as well, of course.

Storm Shadow still totes around his familiar nunchuks, and they still have that cool hidden blade to snap out at a moment's notice.

He has his long and short swords both, and even without the rack to house them, I'm glad he came with these...he wouldn't be Storm Shadow without 'em!

Of course the Ninja Showdown set also comes with a DVD. While more episodes would have been nice, I can't complain too much about Episode 6: Race. It was one of the better earlier episodes by far. Featuring Spirit, Long Range, the Ninja Hovercycles, and of course Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, it has a lot of action, and a lot of fun. Click here to see our Episode Synopsis.

As with most of the Sigma 6 offerings, I find myself exceptionally pleased with the weapons allotment and the sheer amount of gear that these figures come with. Interesting re-designs combined with a ton of new ninja weapons does make this set worth purchasing, I think, especially if you don't have the originals. If you DO have the originals, well, I'm not sure you'll find much in here worth the twenty additional dollars, unless you're a freaky completist like me (or in case you need customs/weapons fodder).

If you're after some spare parts, this set is actually very valuable, as you get a Commando level amount of weapons, two sets of pants, and a ton of figure parts for a pretty decent price. Decide what you're looking for, and this set might end up being worth it for you.
