     Kelly Nightwing is the world's foremost demolitions expert.  His familiarity with solid, liquid, jelly, and plastic explosives makes him a formidable opponent, as well as an essential member of the Shatter Force Team.  Professor Varga found Nightwing in prison during one of his many walks through the prison to recruit Shatter Force members.  Nightwing was awaiting the execution sentence given him for setting the largest explosion the world has ever experienced.  This disregard for the lives of thousands of innocent people who were killed in this Nitro-Oxic explosion resulted in not only his death sentence but also the nickname "Nitro Blast".  Professor Varga quickly recognized the talents of Nitro Blast and knew his demolition expertise and his lack of human regard for the lives of others would be an asset to Shatter Force and that Nitro Blast would be eternally indebted to Varga and Shatter Force for their political coercion to get Nitro Blast released.  Nitro Blast has since been a key member of Shatter Force.
