Any aquatic

     Any frogman can operate efficiently in clean water, under optimum conditions, but the Undertow are especially trained to function and fight in the murky, polluted waters that clog busy industrial and military waterfronts.  His facemask is made of a nontoxic, anti-corrosive silicone to repel oil slicks, and is organically conditioned against hostile biological agents and infections.  They are almost impossible to capture or defeat because others cannot enter the hostile water environments in which they work.

     The modern Undertow have predominantly been dispatched in North America.  Reports of Undertow contingents start in the United States (1990), extend to the United Kingdom and Spain (1991/1992), return to the United States again (2000 through 2002), and lastly come from India (2003).  These reports are significantly less than reports of the standard Iron Grenadier units.

     It is uncommon to find Undertow designated with Cobra insignias.  Any Undertow operating under the Cobra banner are only contracted agents from Destro's personal army.
