DESCRIPTION: |
Beyond the troop type and equipment involved in Operation Crimson Sabotage, it's true scope remains a closely guarded, top secret project within the ranks of Cobra's hierarchy. Rumored to be an deployment of sleeper Crimson Guardsmen awaiting
Cobra Commander's order to launch a crucial take-over of a key technological installation, there is little that can be done outside of intense enemy infiltration, espionage, and intelligence gathering. While a counter-measures are being taken, this report will only discuss what information is known about the Crimson Guard and its equipment.
Sentry-class H.I.S.S. tanks are being used as rapid equipment and troop deployment, artillery support, and mobile anti-armor units. This particular version of the H.I.S.S. also features some formidable upgrades. For instance, the 90mm twin cannons of the standard H.I.S.S. have been upgraded to EER-9 ("Ear-Nine") TOWs. Also, while standard operating procedure is to have a gunner operate the "Ear-Nines"
independently of the vehicle operator, the driver of a Sentry-class H.I.S.S. can operate the vehicle and fire the turret simultaneously from within the cockpit. Finally, as an unusual detail, Cobra has installed xenon headlights specifically chosen to potentially blind enemy forces in night-time attacks.
Since Crimson Guardsmen must maintain their equipment deep undercover, CGs are able to maintain, repair, and operate the Sentry-class H.I.S.S.
independently of Cobra. This makes them physically fit, well-drilled, and knowledgeable in the capabilities of the raw machinery beneath them. They're the best Cobra offers and they
pride themselves for it.
