     Specialists in infra-red laser technology, the 2001 deployment of Laser Vipers would target enemies thousands of yards away and "zap it" in less than a millisecond with laser weaponry.  Laser-Vipers were recruited from an small pool of recruits with questionable masters degrees in mechanical engineering and each spent his spare time increasing the firepower capability of their laser weapon.  To get the attention of their commanding Officer, they "tested" their latest modifications on each other.  While not exactly conducive to filling Cobra's ranks, it was one way to eliminate the advancement of the competition.

     Outfitted in a stolen uniform design from the G.I. Joe operative Sci-Fi, Laser Vipers wore custom fit "hot finger" battle gloves and carried a reverse-engineered laser rifle.

     In 2003, Laser Vipers returned to their original incarnation as a support unit rather than as a combat trooper with the Python Patrol.
